We are very happy to welcoming Maria Johansson to our Editorial Board. Maria is a professor in Environmental Psychology, at the Department of Architecture and Built Environment in Lund, Sweden. get to know her here:

What's you main research focus at the moment?

I am working in environmental psychology, focusing upon the interaction between human and environment from the individual’s perspective. I study human perceptual, emotional and behavioural responses to environmental stimuli in the built environment as well as in nature. The latter includes human responses to biodiversity in particular the presence of large carnivores. My research field is highly multidisciplinary and I work in close collaboration with architects, engineers and natural scientists as well as with practice, nationally and internationally.

Can you describe your research career? Where, what, when?

Master degree in psychology, Lund University, Sweden 1995

PhD in environmental psychology, Lund University, 2000

Professor in environmental psychology, Lund University 2014

How come that you became a wildlife scientist?

By accident! but I happened to like it a lot. I also have a strong belief that environmental psychology and social science in general can provide useful perspectives on wildlife issues.

What do you do when you're not working?

Spend time with my husband and two children.
