New Subject Editor: Mathieu Leblond

My name is Mathieu Leblond, and I was recently appointed as a new subject editor for Wildlife Biology. I am really looking forward to reading all the interesting research articles that will be submitted to the journal.

During my Ph.D., which I completed in my hometown Rimouski (Québec, Canada), I studied the impacts of road networks on woodland caribou, a Species at Risk that is rapidly declining across Canada. After completing my thesis in 2013 and up until 2017, I completed two postdoctoral fellowships which led me to the beautiful town of Québec City. During this time I continued working on caribou, but also on other large terrestrial mammals such as moose, wolves, and bears. In 2017 I moved to Canada’s capital, Ottawa, where I began as a research scientist for Environment Canada. Since then I have continued to expand my work on various Species at Risk, focusing my research on predator-prey interactions, animal-habitat relationships, and animal movements.

Outside of work, I enjoy cultural and social activities. I particularly enjoy comedy, movies, literature, and even video games! I am a novice home renovator, and I always have a few projects in the works. I also enjoy travelling around the world, for work but also for fun!
