Winner of "Wolves Across Borders" photo competition!

The regeneration of the wolf population in Europe is underlaid by transboundary dispersal. This allows emergence of novel allelic combinations, as exemplified in the paper investigating genetic admixture between Alpine and Central European populations in the forested habitats in the Central European mountains. In certain instances, wolves do not respect the borders of hypercarnivory, contributing to restoration of lesser familiar ecological interactions including frugivory, as illustrated in an image captured within the Bohemian Forest National Park.
